Sheppard Pratt Towson Campus Phase 1-2 Gas Replacement
Civil Division
This was a design-build project to replace the aging gas infrastructure through out the entire Sheppard Pratt Towson Campus. Significant test pitting was done to map out existing utilities and create a path for the new 6” HDPE gas main. In order to prevent disruption to the on-going campus activities, a majority of the new gas main was installed by directional drilling. Because this is a fully functional hospital, gas supply couldn’t be interrupted. Ferguson designed a plan to leave the existing gas main operational, all while constructing and connecting the existing buildings to the new gas main. No gas outages were necessary and all buildings were successfully connected to the new gas main, prior to abandoning the old gas system.
